Katy and Sasha are the contributors for Ottawa Beer Events! They have distinctly different palates and in this segment they go head-to-head tasting MacTavish In Memoriam by Le Trou duDiable.
Katy:
Pouring a bubbly clear gold with a puffy cotton ball white head, MacTavish in Memoriam has big aromas of grapefruit hops, caramel malts and pine.
Taste-wise, this brew starts with a sharp grapefruit bitterness that mellows with flavours of an arrowroot cracker and ends dry with hints of pine.
At 5% ABV an well balanced, MacTavish in Memoriam is the perfect beer for when you just wan ta really good beer. After you try one you’ll be paying your respects to the old MacTavish too.
The Trou de Diable MacTavish pours a cloudy straw color with very little head, that seems to hang onto the glass for dear life.
The citrus aroma hits you immediately and the taste mimics the scent, offering a crisp grapefruit flavour with just a hint of the bitterness from the hops on the finish.
This is a nice crisp refreshing beer, perfect for a summer patio.
