Spearhead's Belgian Stout pours a luscious midnight black with a bubbly coffee crema coloured head and wonderful aromas of caramel, dark fruit and candied orange.
The stout has a silky feel that starts strong with flavours of roasted malts and coffee then mellows with notes of dried figs, orange zest and finishes dry with a subtle spice from the Trappist yeast.
At 6% ABV this is a great beer to savour after work, watching the sun disappear and the cold weather arrive far too early.
For a lover of dark beer, the jet black colour on this beer caused butterflies in my stomach. The head is very thin, the colour of dark caramel, which is also how it smells. The sweet and dark roasty aroma had me excited to try it.
The coffee notes attack your palate with a mix of the caramel as well as notes of vanilla. Overall a smooth and velvety drink perfect for a cold night inside.
