Assertive IPA with sweet, juicy notes of tangerine, tropical fruit and pine is next up in Beau’s feBREWary tap line up
OTTAWA – (Feb. 11, 2014) This Thursday February 13 will kick off the third week of local craft brewery Beau’s All Natural’s feBREWary celebrations, with a new and boldly hoppy American style India Pale Ale called Mission Accomplished. The beer will be tapped across the province at more than 105 restaurants and pubs, as well as sold in bottles from the brewery.
The 65 IBU (International Bitterness Unit) Mission Accomplished is an American IPA that presents with a bold hop aroma and assertive bitterness. The combination of organic American and New Zealand hops give the beer sweet, juicy notes of tangerine, tropical fruit and pine. Bready malts provide some backbone, but ultimately are no match for the smooth hop bitterness. The American yeast supplies mild, fruity esters that ease back and allow the hops to take their rightful place in the spotlight.
“We’ve had folks asking us for years now to brew a straight up, no nonsense super-hoppy IPA, and feBREWary seemed like the right time to go for it,” explains brewery co-founder Steve Beauchesne. “That kind of led to the beer’s name too, as in ‘Yeah, we did it! Mission accomplished!’” he laughs.
Beau’s will be celebrating this release and Week 3 of feBREWary at the brewery starting Friday Feb 14, by tapping a cask-conditioned version of Mission Accomplished at 2 pm. Festivities continue at Beau’s on Saturday throughout the day with Winter Games challenges for guests, including bottle cap hockey and a stein-hold struggle. There will be free posters of the Mission Accomplished art for the first 100 visitors to the brewery that day, as well as a coupon for a pair of collectible Beau’s wooden coasters upon their next visit to the brewery.
In Toronto, the Cloak and Dagger on College St. will host a Beau’s Tap Takeover for Valentine’s Day called A Brewed with Love Affair, with 10 Beau’s beers on tap and free admission (pay per pint). The event runs over the Valentine’s Day weekend (Feb 14 & 15). In Ottawa Feb. 14-16 Beau’s will be pouring Mission Accomplished alongside a variety of other tasty beer creations at the Winterbrewed Craft Beer Festival, held in the Glebe at the Fifth Avenue Court and Arrow and Loon Pub (www.winterbrewed.com).
Mission Accomplished will be available for sale in 600 ml bottles at the Beau’s brewery retail store, as well as for home delivery in Ottawa through BYBO (www.bybo.ca), for a retail price of $7.85. Throughout the month of feBREWary, Beau’s will be helping BYBO offer a promotional delivery fee of $8 instead of the standard $15 rate.
The feBREWary celebrations continue next week with the launch of Collabrrrewnaut, an espresso-infused pilsner, and food and beer pairings hosted at the brewery with guest chef Bruce Wood. FeBREWary details are available at www.beaus.ca/feBREWary.
