Beau’s All Natural will release the final beer for feBREWary this coming Thursday. The month-long craft beer celebration has kept the Eastern Ontario craft brewery busy putting out five beers in four weeks. The feBREWary offerings have been tapped each week at more than 105 restaurants and pubs across Ontario. The latest, Wag the Wolf, is a generously hopped wheat beer with big aromas of citrus and tropical fruit. Aptly, the brewery will host a tropical-themed open house this Saturday to celebrate its release.
Wag the Wolf is a weissbeer (wheat beer) that has been generously late-addition-hopped with organic New Zealand varieties. The traditional fruity, spicy and refreshing weissbier is matched with big hop aromas in this unique creation. Made with 65% wheat, and fermented with a traditional hefeweizen yeast, the beer is pale gold in colour and hazy. There are notes of banana, clove, papaya, mango and citrus on the nose. The carbonation is lively and the beer is spicy and fruity, with restrained bitterness and a slightly dry finish.
Participating feBREWary restaurants and pubs will begin tapping Wag the Wolf this coming Thursday, February 27. A list of places across Ontario to try it can be found online atwww.beaus.ca/feBREWary. The brewery will celebrate the release all day Saturday with an indoor/outdoor tropical-themed party. The patio will be open with a fire pit to keep warm by, and Ottawa’s Tacolot will be on hand serving up food. Visitors are encouraged to break out their luau or beach wear and join in the tropical fun. There will also be free posters of the Wag the Wolf art for the first 100 visitors.
Beau’s co-founder Steve Beauchesne says everyone at the brewery is happy with how well feBREWary has been received, both locally and across the province. “Going from 40 participating locations in bigger centres last year to 105 restaurants and pubs in 28 towns and cities has really made the difference for 2014,” he points out. “The beers have been super-creative but at the same time very approachable. It has made for a marvelous month.”
Wag the Wolf will be available for sale in 600 ml bottles at the Beau’s brewery retail store beginning this Thursday, as well as for home delivery in Ottawa through BYBO (www.bybo.ca), for a retail price of $7.85. Wag the Wolf will also make its way onto LCBO shelves across the province in early March, and continue throughout the month of April.
