Dominion City Brewing Co., a new craft brewery based in Ottawa, Ontario, launched its Kickstarter campaign today – ambitiously aiming to raise $15,000 to fund its bottle shop and tasting bar.
“We’ve got a plan for a business built on great beer and we’re working hard to get the brewery ready for a mid-2014 opening, but we want it to be more than just a factory,” says Josh McJannett, Brewer and Dominion City Co-Founder. “We’re hoping this Kickstarter campaign will help us make it a place for customers to hang out, sample new flavours, experience our process first-hand – and of course, pick up a growler or two to share with friends and family.”
If the campaign is successful, Dominion City will build its tasting bar with century-old sunken timbers reclaimed from the Ottawa River in a bid to connect with Canada’s past. The brewery will also commission local artists to help style the bottle shop in a tribute to Ottawa’s present.
“We’re really excited to invite the public to help us bring this dream to life,” says McJannett. The campaign, which runs from March 6, 2014 to April 7, 2014 offers funders rewards such as a custom Dominion City Freaker (knitted beer koozie), Teku glassware (the world’s greatest beer glass) and vintage Dominion City hockey sweater to name just a few. The campaign also has a range of experiential offerings up for grabs, and is accepting pledges for as little as $1 – offering to sing that backer’s name into a pot of boiling wort (that’s unfermented beer, in case you’re wondering!)
